Peer Review Process

Journal of Supply Chain and Entrepreneurship (JoSCE) is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research in the fields of supply chain management and entrepreneurship. Every paper submitted to JoSCE for publication undergoes a peer review process to ensure academic rigor and maintain high publication standards. The peer review process is a vital step to assess the paper’s relevance and contribution to the journal’s focus. JoSCE employs a double-blind peer review method, ensuring that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. The peer review process at JoSCE involves the following 9 steps:

  1. Submission of Paper The corresponding or submitting author submits the manuscript to the journal through our online submission system, supported by Open Journal System (OJS). For the convenience of authors, JoSCE temporarily also accepts paper submissions via email.

  2. Editorial Office Assessment The submitted paper is initially reviewed by the journal’s editor, who evaluates whether the paper aligns with the journal's focus and scope. The editor checks the structure of the paper to ensure it follows the author guidelines, with all necessary sections and proper stylizations. In addition, the editor assesses the paper’s academic quality, including the identification of any significant methodological flaws. The paper is also subjected to Turnitin plagiarism detection before proceeding to the review stage.

  3. Appraisal by the Editor-in-Chief The Editor-in-Chief further assesses whether the paper is appropriate for the journal, ensuring its originality, significance, and relevance. If the paper does not meet these criteria, it may be rejected at this stage without further review.

  4. Invitation to Reviewers The handling editor invites suitable experts to review the paper. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, relevance to the topic, and absence of conflicts of interest. The peer review process maintains impartiality through the double-blind method, where both the author’s and the reviewer’s identities remain anonymous.

  5. Response to Invitations Potential reviewers assess whether they are available, suitable for the topic, and free of conflicts of interest. If they decline the invitation, they may suggest alternative reviewers. The editor respects the reviewer’s availability and expertise before proceeding with the review process.

  6. Review is Conducted Reviewers thoroughly read and assess the paper. After an initial read, they make an evaluation, and if no significant issues are found, they proceed with a detailed, point-by-point review. Based on their assessment, reviewers provide their recommendations: accept, reject, or request major or minor revisions.

  7. Journal Evaluates the Reviews The editor-in-chief and handling editor carefully consider all the reviews submitted. If the reviews conflict or differ significantly, the editor may invite additional reviewers to ensure a balanced evaluation before making a final decision.

  8. The Decision is Communicated The editor sends a decision email to the corresponding author with the review comments. Reviewer feedback is shared anonymously to ensure transparency and provide constructive guidance. The corresponding author is expected to address the feedback and make necessary revisions.

  9. Final Steps If the paper is accepted, it moves to the copy-editing phase. If revisions are required, the handling editor includes the reviewers' comments and instructions for improvement. Authors revise the paper and resubmit it for further review. Once revisions are satisfactory, the paper is accepted and scheduled for publication. Accepted articles are published online and are freely available as downloadable PDF files.

The entire peer review process is designed to maintain the integrity and quality of the research published in Journal of Supply Chain and Entrepreneurship, contributing significantly to the advancement of knowledge in supply chain management and entrepreneurship.
