Artificial Intelligence Policy

Guidelines for Responsible AI Usage in the Interdisciplinary Journal of Pedagogy and Research in Media Technology are established to ensure ethical, transparent, and responsible integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in scholarly research and publishing.

For Authors

1. Ethical and Responsible Use

Authors must clearly disclose any use of AI tools in the research process, including data collection, analysis, or writing assistance. Proper attribution must be provided for any AI-generated content. Authors are required to comply with privacy regulations and obtain informed consent when AI tools are used to process personal or sensitive data. Potential biases embedded in AI systems must be identified and mitigated to ensure fair, valid, and impartial research outcomes. All AI-assisted content must respect intellectual property and copyright laws.

2. AI in Research Methodology and Data Analysis

Authors should critically evaluate the suitability of AI tools in relation to their research objectives, including considerations of accuracy, reliability, and disciplinary relevance. Results generated with AI assistance must be validated through established research protocols to ensure scientific rigor and reproducibility. The journal encourages the use of interpretable and explainable AI models to enhance methodological transparency and clarity of findings.

3. Academic Integrity and Originality

Any assistance provided by AI tools must be transparently acknowledged in accordance with accepted academic citation standards. Manuscripts must represent the authors’ original intellectual contributions and should not rely solely on AI-generated content or analysis.

4. Transparency in Peer Review and Collaboration

Authors are expected to disclose AI usage during the peer review process and when collaborating with co-authors. Research teams should establish clear agreements regarding AI use, data management, and authorship attribution at the beginning of the research project.

For Reviewers

Reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. Uploading manuscripts into AI tools may violate confidentiality, proprietary rights, and data privacy, particularly when manuscripts contain personally identifiable information. Reviewers are fully responsible for the content of their reviews.

For Editors

Editors are required to maintain strict confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must refrain from uploading manuscripts into generative AI tools to avoid breaches of confidentiality and privacy rights.
