Abstract

Background

In the era of rapid technological advancement, digital literacy plays a vital role in transforming science education. It enables students to access scientific content more effectively and engage in interactive, meaningful learning experiences.

Aims

This article examines the contribution of digital literacy to improving science education, particularly in enhancing learning quality, fostering student engagement, and developing critical skills for the 21st century.

Methods

The study uses a qualitative literature-based method by analyzing current research and educational practices that integrate digital literacy into science instruction. The focus is on digital-based models such as blended learning, mobile learning, and multimedia use.

Result

The analysis reveals that digital literacy supports better understanding of scientific concepts by providing diverse and accessible learning resources. It encourages active participation, collaboration, and independent exploration. Nevertheless, significant barriers persist, including uneven access to technology and insufficient digital capabilities among educators.

Conclusion

Integrating digital literacy into science education enhances not only content mastery but also the development of essential life skills. With adequate support such as infrastructure, training, and inclusive strategies, digital tools can transform traditional science teaching into a dynamic, future-oriented learning experience.
